Édouard Pelseneer

A descendant of a dynasty of entrepreneurs and builders, Édouard Pelseneer was also the son of Henri Pelseneer, who was one of the leading manufacturers of Art Nouveau furniture in Brussels and who built most of Victor Horta’s furniture and wooden fittings. It was in this aesthetic and personal context that he studied architecture and then went on to train under Léon Govaerts. Fernand Khnopff called upon his services for his house and studio following his first Art Nouveau creation (Les Hiboux). Pelseneer is also known as an intellectual, an art critic and a theoretician.
