Rue Le Corrège 35, 1000 Brussels, Belgium
1899
This home designed by the architect Edouard Ramaekers for himself is undoubtedly one of the most fantastic achievements of the North-East district of Brussels. Mixing Neogothic influences and the Art Nouveau style with panache, the building is the culmination of Ramaekers' career. Endowed with an abundant ornamentation, the dwelling forms a total work of art. The architect lived there until his death in 1941.
EXTERIOR
The architect displays unusual shapes: he opens the facade largely by large windows and is original in the layout of it. Stained glass windows and sgraffito panels with stylized floral motifs mixing Art Nouveau curves and broken lines, dialogue and complement each other. Admire the knocker in the shape of a hand on the door ...
INTERIORS
The floors are covered with polychrome mosaics and walls of paneling made of ceramic tiles. All doors are decorated with stained glass windows with golden sun and storks ready to fly.
