Antoine Pompe

1873 — 1980
After completing his studies in Brussels and Munich, Pompe worked for several architects, including the famous Georges Hobé and Victor Horta. His first project was the magnificent, luxurious Palace Hotel on the Place Rogier/Rogierplein, which still displays traces of his unique geometric Art Nouveau style on its façade and in several of its lounges. His most interesting construction is Dr Van Neck’s clinic, which was amazingly modern at the time. He is also known for his furniture, which is rare but highly prized by collectors.
