Victor Taelemans

1864 — 1920
The descendant of a family of artists and architects, Taelemans studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. Very soon after his father died in 1897, he abandoned the Eclectic style for Art Nouveau. The house he created for the lawyer Liétart was his first construction in this style, and it is said to have influenced Victor Horta himself.
