This is the second house that the architect built for himself, after the more understated building at no. 70, rue Philippe Le Bon.
The fanlight above the front door displays a horseshoe arch and is decorated with the ironwork and woodwork details so characteristic of the Art Nouveau style. Originally, large bays with geometric Art Nouveau woodwork enhanced the ground floor, but today these have been replaced with large windows for commercial purposes. The architect’s art is particularly evident in his use of stone, which can be seen in the section extending vertically from the door to the upper oriel window, as well as in the lintel of the window directly below the balcony, which is sculpted to form a band and ends in understated whiplash lines. The same balcony is also decorated with floral Art Nouveau ironwork.
Although disfigured by the large windows, the two rooms on the ground floor retain their wooden ceilings decorated in the Art Nouveau style. This floor also includes a beautiful staircase that combines harmoniously with the woodwork and the brass door handles. All these features served as justification for this interesting house becoming a listed property.
